Inside, the experience revolves around dining, classic showroom entertainment and a classy bar and music scene — just as it has on Celebrity ships for years. Last refurbished in 2018, Celebrity Xpedition was purposely built to cruise the Galapagos. The immersive onboard experience includes nightly lectures by certified naturalists from Galapagos National Park, who will be on board the entire sailing. Enjoy postcard-worthy views from the Panorama Deck, or take a dip in the hot tub on the Sunrise Deck. Passengers can choose from a handful of elegant rooms and suites; however, those who want their own balcony will need to spring on the latter.
Europe Cruises
It’s all included with your cruise price, and while it’s adjacent to the spa, access to it isn’t restricted to spa guests. Other extra-charge venues found on at least some Celebrity ships include Raw on Five, which serves sushi and sashimi, and The Porch, which offers a raw bar with oysters and lobster rolls. Some ships feature a Parisian patisserie-like venue called Le Grand Bistro that offers light fare such as ham-and-cheese baguettes during the day and gourmet charcuterie and cheese boards with carafes of wine in the evening.
Private Journeys
Access to the exclusive Retreat area is reason alone to book one of the contemporary suites. On Refundable fares only the first two guests sharing a stateroom receives at least 20% off per person cruise fare savings Offer (the “Offer”) on selected cruises. The Offer applies to eligible bookings made between 09 April 2024 to 03 June 2024 (the “Offer Period”) on sailings departing 10 April 2024 to 30 April 2026 (the “Sailing Period”), excluding Galapagos sailings and Alaska cruise tours.

They also feature some of the most unusual relaxation zones you'll find anywhere at sea. For dinners in these main restaurants, you must sign up for either Select Dining, which is where you can show up whenever you want, or Traditional Dining, where you have a fixed table and time for dinner. Celebrity is also known for one of the most innovative new cabin types in the cruise industry, the "infinite veranda" cabin.

Both the Edge Class and Solstice Class are known for ships with an inordinately large percentage of cabins that feature balconies. On the Solstice Class ships, the percentage is even higher, at 85%. Located at the very top front of the Edge Class vessels, above the bridge (meaning you'll have a better view than the captain in these rooms), the Iconic Suites offer breathtaking views through floor-to-ceiling panoramic glass windows. Master bathrooms are true stunners with massive whirlpool tubs, marble-lined showers and two sink areas. Still, while families with younger children usually gravitate to one of the above-mentioned lines with more family-friendly activities, that doesn't mean you can't bring your kids on a Celebrity cruise.

You’ll Never Want To Vacation Any Other Way
On many ships, you'll find the line's signature Italian restaurant, Tuscan Grille. It serves up handmade pasta, artisanal meats, flatbread pizzas, seafood and other Italian specialties in an elegant setting and comes with a flat fee of $30 per person. Another included-in-the-fare option found on Celebrity ships is the deck-top Mast Grill, which serves burgers, hot dogs and the like. Among the line's itineraries, you'll find everything from two-night sampler cruises to the Bahamas to 18-night voyages to Hawaii and the South Pacific. Celebrity isn't known for the sort of longer, multi-month voyages and around-the-world sailings that are a hallmark of the Princess and Holland America schedules. The 12 main vessels in the Celebrity fleet are not nearly as big as the vessels operated by Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises — the three lines best known for giant ships.

The biggest Celebrity ship, Celebrity Beyond, measures around 141,000 tons. That's nearly 40% smaller than the biggest ships operated by Royal Caribbean. At the core of the brand are 12 relatively big ships that can be bunched into just three groups, or "classes," as they are known in cruise industry lingo.

While the app indicated that the Solarium closed at 10 p.m., it was closed at 9 p.m., and guests who were in the Solarium pool at this time were asked to leave. With the Classic Drinks Package we had purchased, coffee drinks at the cafe were included. This was a great place to both grab a drink on the run or sit in the cafe and enjoy the view. We loved everything on the Oceanview buffet and even chose to dine there one night rather than in the main dining room.

When staying in a top suite, you can earn as many as 18 to 24 points per day. On all ships, smoking (including the use of electronic cigarettes) is only allowed in designated outdoor areas. Passengers caught smoking in their cabins will be charged a $250 fine per occurrence.
Exclusive to guests of The Retreat, including a private restaurant, sundeck, lounge & more. Explore all seven continents and over 300 destinations in 79 countries. From the charm and history of locations like Marseille, France, to the rich culture of Asia, the rugged beauty of Alaska, and the dreamy beaches of the South Pacific. We can help you broaden your horizons because we share your passion for travel. In fact, that’s what drives us to create new experiences and imagine even better ways to discover the world together aboard even more award-winning ships. For my next Celebrity cruise, I am already looking at booking Always Included to compare the price savings.
I was surprised to find that Celebrity doesn’t offer many short, weekend sailings. In fact, the cruise line doesn’t offer any weekend sailings from May to October from Florida. This is totally different than sister-brand Royal Caribbean and competitors Carnival and Virgin Voyages, which offer plenty of weekend sailings throughout the year. Short sailings also attract a more lively crowd normally and the onboard experience feels more like a party. One of the biggest reasons that I continue to cruise with Royal Caribbean is because of my Diamond Plus loyalty status. Receiving 5 daily drink vouchers, along with discounts on internet, BOGO specialty dining and free laundry, are all very lucrative benefits that save me literally thousands of dollars each year while cruising.
The latter entitles cruisers to amenities like dedicated concierge services, as well as an exclusive luncheon, daily in-room canapes and sparkling wine on request. Celebrity’s newest ship is also its flashiest — in the best way possible. The Celebrity Ascent offers an expanded Retreat area (exclusive to suite guests), complete with a 40-percent-larger two-story sundeck, and the swanky Sunset Bar, which is 180 percent larger. Finally, stay in one of the Iconic Suites, the largest in the Celebrity fleet, for the ultimate splurge. These two-deck suites offer an upstairs-and-downstairs setup with one bedroom, two bathrooms, and a living room in 739 square feet of space.
I do think it would be nice to have a more all-inclusive experience onboard, which is something Royal Caribbean does not offer. Celebrity Cruises has been referring to their onboard experience as an accessibly approach to luxury. This upscale experience isn’t necessarily priced to true luxury brands like Regent Seven Sea or Viking Cruise Line; instead, the price point is similar to Holland America and Princess Cruises.
Staying in balcony cabins, which the line calls Veranda cabins, will get you 3 points a day. The top decks of each of the Edge Class ships also have a plant-filled "playscape" called the Rooftop Garden with an outdoor eatery called the Rooftop Garden Grill. Inspired by childhood playgrounds, they're designed to "awaken the inner child in everyone," the line has said. Instead, Celebrity has gone for a much more serene feel with its top decks. For starters, they're covered with a lot of relaxing (and usually very stylish) pool and lounge zones.
While the cabin was impressive, we didn’t luck out with location since we booked a guaranteed cabin. Early in the morning, we were woken by thuds and clinks from the nearby area. It was noisy enough that even earplugs and white noise couldn’t keep me asleep, even though I am a light sleeper in general. This fact was only emphasized by my parents, who also just returned from their first Celebrity cruise to the Panama Canal. They told my sister and I that they felt young on their cruise and they both just turned 62 this year. Mom and dad said we would probably be the youngest people onboard and we might even get bored.
Take the kids to Camp at Sea, the only fully customizable camp at sea. Arrange a romantic picnic at the rooftop Lawn Club, where you can lounge on a half-acre of real grass while gazing at the ocean. On Edge-series ships, experience the magic of an Infinite Veranda® stateroom, where the push of a button gives you open-air access to the sea, taking your room right to the water’s edge.
